I've never experienced single digit weather, let alone anything below zero degrees. Jackson Hole welcomed me with just that and showed me what freezing temperatures can really feel like. Certainly colder than your typical trip to Tahoe, but far more epic.

We started the trip with a snowshoeing expedition up the Teton Mountains, an activity that I completely underestimated in difficulty. Worth mentioning everyone in my group was twice my height -- think baby steps trying to keep up with giants steps! Don't get me wrong, I love winter sports, but I normally imagine myself snowboarding down the slopes not hiking in these conditions with people who are 6 feet tall! I was beyond exhausted.

Overall, even if my tolerance for the cold is low, my desire to go back to Jackson Hole is high. The food is excellent and the views alone are tough to beat. I can already taste my veggie pasta from The Granary and breakfasts from Lotus Cafe. It's a bit of a trek to get there from SF but if you want a true taste of the "West" it's worth the journey. If you need more persuasion, simply go to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and find out yourself!

Sadly, I didn't get to hit the slopes on this trip to Tahoe but make no mistake, I still played in the snow. It was just as much fun as the time we came up last summer, but the only difference was rolling eighteen deep. Spending a long weekend with good company, delicious home cooked meals, board games, book readings by the fire and drinking games inside a beautiful lake house are the perfect kind of way to nest in the winter. Not to mention-- hiking in the woods, building snowmen and making snow angels were all new outdoor experiences that I really enjoyed. Even a few crazy friends entertained us by jumping in the ice cold lake. I recorded a few clips on Vine so if you have the app you can view it there. Ever since I saw Nicole Richie wear this periwinkle gown for the Golden Globes, baby blue was the only color in my radar while shopping these days. I get so much inspiration from award shows and last night's Grammys was another evening of red carpet fashion, celebrity appearances and entertaining performances. Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" and Miguel's "Adorn You" are both currently on repeat. And since we're on the topic of music, another artist I just discovered is Lianne La Havas. Her song "Elusive" is another jam on my playlist to start this week.

Oh and I also joined this new app called Vine. I've been borderline obsessed so if you want to catch 6-second-mini-moments of my life, you can follow me: Nikki Desuasido. Happy Monday!
