ca$hing in my closet

by Nikki Cornell in , , ,

all items can be found at the Hello Nikki Store on eBay

The variety of stuff in my closet is uniquely me, however, i chose to keep many articles of clothing long after I could use it. And after a toss & keep fashion show in my bedroom, Tomiko and I managed to clear out any unwanted items that each had a beautiful story and have been dearly loved, but I just needed to part ways or rather clear up room and make space for in my closet. Anyhow, with the stash of clothes i've collected I created a store on eBay where I can auction off these once adored pieces.

Afterall, one mans trash is another man's treasure.

Besides, I wanted my closet to be in harmony with my life right now and i realized i have way too much stuff i don't use that hopefully someone else will treasure.

And make an impact when you shop! I will donate the proceeds to Divine Mercy Eucharistic Society. a non-profit organization, located near San Francisco. Mary's House is a shelter for pregnant women who have no where else to turn and provide a halfway house so women need not choose abortion.

I will regularly sell new items on the store from here on so keep posted :)

we've been unusually getting more sunshine these past few days, however, as the rained trickled in, it brought back the old weather and the reason this place is called fog city.

i'm originally from daly city- what up. ;) and although i don't live here anymore this place always reminds me of home.

I grew up in the Serramonte area and in my neighborhood, Gellert Park was a main spot to be. It reminds me of a time when daly city was still 415, everyone's phone number began with 878 and there once was a UA at metro center.

but if you know me, i have this weird memorization for numbers. even if you dial on a phone, i can tell you what number you're pressing by the sound of the tone. strange. but it's one of my many talents i possess.

Anyhow, I got my necklace earlier this week and i love it. I know, I caved and got the "Carrie" name necklace from Sex and the City, however, it looks so much better when it's not your own name, and since I would never get a tattoo this is the closest it'll get for me.

contrast

I love love the contrast San Francisco designer Alexander Wang showed in his Spring 2009 collection. "Like the collection itself, the girls he dresses stand out, but not in the obvious ways... more like the black sheep in a crowd-inspiring, surprising and slightly mysterious."

This balancing act is something my style has definitely reflected as I live off of an effortless cool look. I never want to appear like I'm trying too hard yet at the same time, I love to look polished and well put together and I try to express that in my outfits.

I cleaned out my closet and discovered that all the different pieces I carried transcended into multiple fashion personas inside me. I realized I am not afraid to experiment and through the vast selection of articles I carry I have different versions of myself and organizing the chaos underlined  the process of defining who I truly am which is why I feel more clarity.

I fall into that mixture of a little bit of everything- edgy, luxurious, classy, funky, boho, chic, sporty, retro, beachy, casual, bummy, trendy, glamorous- it all depends since I'm a mood dresser and I view getting dressed as an opportunity for creativity and uniqueness and of course it also varies on the activity I'll be partaking in. I have days where I love to be in sweats and other days where I'm dramatic but one thing's for sure, my style loves to be an entrance maker and it is always constantly evolving and being refined.

Either way, if you rely on clothes as emotional props, then this is the way I'm currently feeling. After all, fashion is way of turning yourself inside out, and lately I feel bold.

(dress from punch, bebe belt, aldo's boots)

here i go again with another birthday. my weekends are beginning to consist of dressing up for a club we all know i enjoy going to (i'm being sarcastic). the scene is beginning to drag on or maybe i'm just getting older? either way, an opportunity for a photoshoot with friends and having some drinks always guarantees instant fun! :)

tomiko celebrated her birthday at horizon on broadway, the old infamous sake lab i frequented during my clubbing days. now that those days are finally gone.. hopefully these nights out lately to a club will be too.
