On Thanksgiving, I started my morning with a hike at Fort Funston then celebrated dinner at my dads. On Black Friday, I caught a movie in the day then watched the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Union Square. Went back to the Redwood Room to have dinner, roamed around SF and popped in at PeYale, Matrix, and The Brixton. Saturday, I grabbed my infamous super veggie sandwich from Little Lucca and enjoyed it at the Children's Playground in Golden Gate Park. Forgot how much I love the Inner Sunset, especially when the weather is as nice as it was. Went to Hillsdale later that evening and had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. I haven't eaten at one in forever but it was just as good as I remembered. The menu is massive but you really can't go wrong with the Fried Mac and Cheese. On Sunday I had all my favorite meals-- oatmeal for breakfast at La Boulange, custom salad for lunch at Blue Barn, a chocolate chip cookie from Susie Cakes then had my spinach ravioli at Luisa's for dinner. Other than a bike ride in the day, I layed low and watched Homeland. It was a very eventful weekend and didn't get a chance to Instagram my adventures so I'll probably post some candids on there just to recap the fun things I did.
Point Bonita
Last weekend, Alex and I went on an adventure to Point Bonita to take a few pictures on his birthday. We celebrated the night before and had dinner at Salt House. Then on the day of, we had dinner at 5A5 and got a few bottles at the Redwood Room in the Clift Hotel. Both places we ate at weren't my cup of tea since they weren't veggie friendly but the ambiance was fun and the Redwood Room is one of my favorite bars in SF. I need to get the pictures from his camera but here's one from our hike up to the lighthouse. I can't stress enough how pretty the views were. I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life and had no idea all this crazy terrain existed so close to home. Anyway, I get a bunch of questions about these boots and they're by Enzo Angiolini. I got them awhile back at Nordstrom but you can find a similar style by them here.
Hollywood
Last weekend I spent time with the girls and visited Rachael down in LA to check out her new spot. You couldn't have asked for better weather and even though it was a short trip, we were able to make the most of it. Friday we shopped on Robertson and Melrose, ate at Little Door, looked at the Urban Lights installation at LACMA that was in the movie No Strings Attached. And if you know me or my friends well enough, you'd learn that a restaurant is only deemed worthy if it has a stamp of approval from Yelp. With over 2k+ reviews at Milk we wanted to see if it really lived up to the hype so had a low key night with ice cream. The next day we hiked up to the famous Hollywood sign then had lunch after at Tender Greens. We shopped at The Grove then got ready for dinner at Katsuya. We stopped by Lure Hollywood for this private Jordan event. I'm not big on the Kardashian's but saw Chloe and Lamar, which is always fun to see people who are semi-famous. Oh and we also took full advantage of the photo booth! These pictures don't do my outfit any justice but it was super cute with my burgundy lipstick since I rarely get to wear dark lips. After we went to Greystone Manor and had the time of our lives. We haven't gone out out like that in so long but we definitely paid for it the next day. We layed out on Venice Beach to recover then went to Santa Monica on 3rd Street Promenade before our flight back to SF. It's been a way overdue girl trip for me and forgot how much fun it is to laugh non stop and crack up the next day on the silly stuff we did. And after coming back from New York and LA and seeing everything they have to offer, I still think those cities can't top SF.
Dear Suzy, Love Sam
Alex and I decided to be Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop from the Wes Anderson film Moonrise Kingdom. I was inspired after watching the movie on the plane to New York and figured it would be an easy costume to put together considering we didn't have a lot of time to prepare.
Alex's costume was easy -- he pretty much had everything but bought the hat and canteen online then the patches, bandana and socks from an army surplus store on Market St.
I used this old pink dress I wore to Tomiko's baby shower and purchased this peter pan collar from H&M for $10 and 50's saddle shoes from Payless for $30.
I then added some blue eyeshadow and committed to a pout throughout the whole night.
Now all Alex and I needed to do next was bershon the shit out of our photos, which we already love to do :)
I went on Amazon and bought a stuffed animal cat, a bike basket and binoculars. If it were not for Amazon Prime, my props probably wouldn't have made it in time.
It was hard to find the portable record player since all my searches on Etsy and Ebay weren't able to ship in time before the party. I even went to a few thrift stores but the only thing I lucked out on was finding this vintage luggage at a random antique store on Union for $30 then spray painted it yellow.
We bought this map from Walgreens and recreated the book Coping With the Troubled Child on Photoshop then taped it on to one of his Breakthrough books.
And there you have it-- Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop from Moonrise Kingdom!
