Amigamoon 2014

by Nikki Cornell

Everything about Colombia exceeded my expectations. I would have put this place on my bucket list a long time ago if I had known how amazing this experience would be. I traveled with four girlfriends on our “Amigamoon” (honeymoon with your girls). We spent two nights in Bogota, five nights in Providencia, and three nights in Cartagena. It was the perfect girls' getaway vacation.

Here's a quick video of our trip in Providencia Island!

In September 2014, I visited Colombia for ten days with four girlfriends and called this trip our "Amigamoon". It started with two nights in Bogotá, where we stayed at this Airbnb. The first thing we did when we arrived was dine at Matiz. We were so exhausted from all the traveling, the only thing we wanted to do was get a killer dinner then go to sleep! This restaurant did not disappoint -- everything from the food to the service was outstanding! We ordered the tasting menu and it was really such a delightful meal. The chef was super nice and it was such a warm welcome for our first night in Colombia.

After that, we were fully rested for the next day: We had brunch at Masa, checked out the stunning views from Mount Monserrate (Bogotá is huge!), visited the Museo del Oro, and strolled around the district of La Candelaria before we got ready for a night of bailando at El Campanario and Andres Carne de Res.

On our last morning, we had brunch at Club Colombia then hopped on our flight to Providencia Island!

Adventures in Providencia

by Nikki Cornell

My friend Tiffany described this island so perfectly:

"Providencia is pure adventure, emphasis on “pure”. If you’re looking for a cushy, resort experience, stay on San Andres Island. But if you want something a little rugged, unique, and off-the-beaten path, then there’s no place like Providencia."

I'll never forget our time snorkeling, hiking, and horse-back riding together here. It was truly an unforgettable experience and an adventure of a lifetime!

Hiking with Mr. Hawkins

by Nikki Cornell

Hiking and horseback riding with Mr. Hawkins was truly an unforgettable experience. We were so thankful to have such an amazing guide show us the ropes of what Providencia had to offer. We hiked to the highest point of the island, "The Peak", as he told us all about the island's history, vegetation, flora and fauna. Learning all these interesting facts made trekking through the jungle (in the hot weather!) go by real fast. Before we knew it, we finally reached the summit. From the top, you can see a beautiful 365 degree view; and we enjoyed our snacks and fruits that we picked up along the trail. I have never seen anyone cut up coconuts the way Mr. Hawkins did -- like a pro and with a machete. He really is the best!
