On Saturday, we celebrated Alex's book release party at the Press Club in Yerba Buena. His book, Breakthrough is about overcoming creative block and has 90 inspirational strategies from famous creatives on what has worked for them. It was such a fun night that started with an intimate dinner, hor dourves, good music, close company, and tasty wines nonstop. A memorable occasion to congratulate him for this huge accomplishment, I couldn't be more proud <3

Rok Your Body

Sorry for the slow down in blog posts. I've been searching hard for a new gym and have tried 5 different spin classes from different locations just to find one comparable to the one I took religiously for 2 years (it closed down in March). One studio after another, I kept getting disappointed-- either with the teacher or the music and it became exhausting just to find a class to suit my style. I was looking for something to replace exactly what I once had. Finally, my wish came true and found a spot conveniently located in the Marina that specifically catered to cycling-- Body Rok. It doubles as a Pilates studio and is very clean. I highly recommend trying a class for free-- just use the code: VIP2012 when signing up online. It's a great way to get in shape and even though summer is over, staying fit is always in season. For me, I like to get my cardio through running but spinning especially. It's the only method that keeps me motivated and engaged, plus these classes are short and sweet that dedicating 40 minutes a day to feel good about myself is something I can do.

flour + water

I had dinner last night at flour + water and enjoyed one of the best pastas I've ever had. We've been wanting to dine here for so long but getting a reservation was such a challenge that making it  2 months in advance was the only way to finally eat here. I'm not sure if the wait lived up to the hype--don't get me wrong, the food is delicious but it just wasn't worth the build up and considering how long it took just to get a table made our experience a little sour. Based on that, it's discouraging to want to come back but if anyone out there has the patience to try it, here's what I ordered:

The lighting was too dark to take pictures of these dishes but I'd recommend everything above except the Budino dessert. It can't top D.O.C.G's. at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Vegas, the sister restaurant of my favorite Italian spot Scarpetta. Now that's somewhere I'd fly out to just to eat and probably should make a trip down there soon anyway, I'm way overdue.

Maria and I roamed around SF last night and checked out a bunch of FNO events. We first hit up Marc Jacobs who partnered with San Francisco Magazine and they had some giveaways, champagne and fun photobooth action. We then stopped by Fashion Racked- a little FNO Pop-Up Sale on Claude Lane then visited Uniqlo's Pop Up Store hosted by one of my favorite bloggers Brit Morin from Brit + Co and the fashionable people from Refinery 29. They had a discussion type panel and talked about their views on fashion and technology. It was really interesting to learn about how it's evolved and the importance of blogs and social media-- I really really enjoyed it. Finally, Alex and I had dinner at Cafe Claude (go here for the best gnocchi's ever) then went to the Press Club and 25 Lusk for drinks (we were hunting for a cool venue to have his book release party).  It was a very big and ambitious Thursday night and now look forward to a relaxing weekend. Happy Friday!
