contrast

I love love the contrast San Francisco designer Alexander Wang showed in his Spring 2009 collection. "Like the collection itself, the girls he dresses stand out, but not in the obvious ways... more like the black sheep in a crowd-inspiring, surprising and slightly mysterious."

This balancing act is something my style has definitely reflected as I live off of an effortless cool look. I never want to appear like I'm trying too hard yet at the same time, I love to look polished and well put together and I try to express that in my outfits.

I cleaned out my closet and discovered that all the different pieces I carried transcended into multiple fashion personas inside me. I realized I am not afraid to experiment and through the vast selection of articles I carry I have different versions of myself and organizing the chaos underlined  the process of defining who I truly am which is why I feel more clarity.

I fall into that mixture of a little bit of everything- edgy, luxurious, classy, funky, boho, chic, sporty, retro, beachy, casual, bummy, trendy, glamorous- it all depends since I'm a mood dresser and I view getting dressed as an opportunity for creativity and uniqueness and of course it also varies on the activity I'll be partaking in. I have days where I love to be in sweats and other days where I'm dramatic but one thing's for sure, my style loves to be an entrance maker and it is always constantly evolving and being refined.

Either way, if you rely on clothes as emotional props, then this is the way I'm currently feeling. After all, fashion is way of turning yourself inside out, and lately I feel bold.

(dress from punch, bebe belt, aldo's boots)

here i go again with another birthday. my weekends are beginning to consist of dressing up for a club we all know i enjoy going to (i'm being sarcastic). the scene is beginning to drag on or maybe i'm just getting older? either way, an opportunity for a photoshoot with friends and having some drinks always guarantees instant fun! :)

tomiko celebrated her birthday at horizon on broadway, the old infamous sake lab i frequented during my clubbing days. now that those days are finally gone.. hopefully these nights out lately to a club will be too.

Imagine a way to enjoy Lake Tahoe with all your friends and not worry about who's driving, what car to take, gas fade, laggers, putting on chains, removing off chains, parking far away from the lodge and carrying all your gear up, wouldn't that be sweet?

Well, if you hop on the Bay Area Ski Bus, you can relax and leave all the worrying to them!
They take care of the driving so no one has to drive at the crack of dawn and you can sleep on the way up for extra energy for the slopes or veg out and watch movies on the way back after a long day! It's the perfect way to do a day trip and I highly recommend it.
  • Convenient
  • Cheap
  • Safe, Reliable
  • FUN- for everyone!
My favorite plus is that they provide breakfast, drinks, snacks, and hot chocolate and cookies! :) It couldn't get any better than this! Oh, well, the only downside is that you have to drop off other people at their location, but if you're coming from SF, the only stop is in Oakland.

this video from topshop was my inspiration for my snowboarding outfit.
her sequin beanie is to die for- it looks great underneath the sun- too bad it was snowing like crazy the day we went up, but i was very happy to find a gold one at Forever21 for only $7.

And the liquid pants are shown in gold in the video, but i reused a silver one i had from one of my monthly costume parties i bought at wet seal for $5.

oh and my personal touch was this vinyl lesportsac backpack i got in hawaii. it's waterproof and came handy to hold my favorite ritz crackers, gloves, goggles, and other personal items i wanted to take up to the mountain.
anyhow, these girls are definitely  boarding in style. who says you need to look bulky in cold weather? not topshop.
