we had dinner at bushi-tei to celebrate tomiko's birthday and i had a vegetarian omakase salad and the grass fed tender beef loin that was amazing. i got an email that wanted suggestions of places to eat and this is definitely one spot i would recommend, along with some other favorites that I recently went to like Nopa and Foreign Cinema in the city and Starks, Syrah Bistro, and Rosso Pizzeria up North in Santa Rosa. Dine about Town also started 2 weeks ago so that's another great way to check out some popular places in San Francisco for a fraction of the cost. I saw an article in the Chronicle of the Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants and I'm making my way down the list to see if they live up to the reviews and so far the ones that I've tried I have not been disappointed.

I usually beat the fog and chase the sun up north but strangely the weather has been the exact opposite and the amount of sunshine for January is just a little odd but I have no complaints. I just discovered my new favorite beverage- coconut water, my new favorite dessert- chocolate covered macaroons from Mazetti's, I've reread a bunch of my favorite books from Paulo Coelho- The Alchemist and Eleven Minutes and I just began to take Bikram Yoga again. Oh and even though my love for Sauvignon Blanc will never pass, my tastebuds have finally acquired beer so Stella, Red Stripe, Corona with a lime or Widmer Hefeweizen with an orange are all kinds I can get along.

in the past, when people asked me if i felt older on my birthday my response would always be: "no". thing is, i never really actually felt "different" until this year. My best friend Tomiko was pregnant on my birthday last year and this year my other best friend is now expecting. It's nice that more friends in my immediate circle are becoming mothers because now it's just another thing we all have in common and is another great thing we can share. It's interesting to see how we've evolved from going out soooo much to turning it down just a notch.. ok, almost all the way lol. I'll admit in 2010, I definitely slowed my roll and it's bittersweet.

We ended the night at Infusion on a fun note and had an awesome time! There wasn't anything I could've wanted more.. VIP, bottle service, prime table in the center, a beautiful entourage, good music, good vibes and lots of good laughs- it was a sweet way to end the year right and remind me of how truly blessed i am to have the greatest friends ever.

Happy New Years everyone!
Here's to 2011!
Cheers!

i've been hunting for a poncho like this for ages, have been into knee high socks and obviously can't get enough of this hat that i seem to wear with just about everything.

i spend my weekends often in santa rosa and visited cranes melon barn where they have a christmas boutique every year and carry the neatest odds and ends.

i also checked out the new forever 21 at the santa rosa plaza that's massive and is larger than the powell street store in san francisco. just another reason why i love northern california that much more.
